Palmdale, PA

Palmdale is an unincorporated census-designated place in eastern Derry Township, Dauphin County, in the Harrisburg-Carlisle metro. Hershey borders it on the north, west, and south, while Palmyra in Lebanon County forms its eastern edge. That layout puts Palmdale at a seam: the tight street pattern and mixed uses of Hershey Village meet the broader township landscape of roads, farms, and residential neighborhoods. Township government supplies the local services. Most of the recognizable destinations are in the surrounding Derry-Hershey map. Derry Township grew from a rural farming community into Milton Hershey's model industrial town after the chocolate factory opened in 1903. Today the township's civic map includes a library, a community center with indoor and outdoor pools and gym space, and ten public parks. Palmdale is a small residential pocket with Hershey's old factory-town landmarks nearby and Palmyra across the county line.
