Paradise, CA (CDP)

Paradise is an unincorporated census-designated place in southwestern Mono County, near the bottom of the Sherwin Grade at 5,230 feet. The 2020 census counted 174 residents. Bishop is about 15 miles southeast and Mammoth Lakes about 26 miles northwest, so the community's daily map runs along eastern Sierra routes. Round Valley Joint Elementary School District and Bishop Unified School District for grades 9-12 serve local students, while the Paradise Fire Protection District covers the immediate area.

The CDP sits between Round Valley and Long Valley, near Wheeler Crest, Swall Meadows, and Pinon Ranch. Paradise Lodge, with cabins and a restaurant, is the area's historic commercial address, while the surrounding high-desert roads lead toward ranches, mountain passes, and larger eastern Sierra towns. The place functions as a small residential community for Bishop-area workers and retirees, with winter weather and long travel distances shaping ordinary errands. Paradise is an eastern Sierra settlement, far removed from the better-known town of the same name in Butte County.
