Park City, IL

Park City lies between Waukegan and Gurnee in Lake County, in both Warren and Waukegan townships at the northern edge of the Chicago metropolitan area. The 2020 census counted 7,885 residents. The city was incorporated in 1958 after owners of four mobile-home parks led a referendum to create a municipality and avoid annexation by Waukegan. That origin still matters to the city's physical form: Park City is a small independent city embedded among larger suburban jurisdictions, with residential areas and major regional roads doing much of the organizing.

City government provides police, streets, sanitation, water and sewer, parks, and a teen center. The city is organized into three wards across the Warren and Waukegan township lines. Nearby Waukegan and Gurnee supply the broader commercial and institutional setting, while Park City maintains its own civic services and public spaces. The local map is civic and residential, with community activity centered on city services and parks. Park City's unusual municipal origin still shows up in its boundaries and its place between two larger Lake County communities.
