Parker, KS

Located in northwestern Linn County, Kansas, Parker is a quiet rural community with around 250 residents. The town was founded in the late 1880s when J. W. Parker plotted out streets in his apple orchard to meet the new railroad line. Trains still travel those tracks today, though the town itself moves at a relaxed pace. It maintains several practical local services, including a post office, an elementary school, a lumberyard, and a few repair and manufacturing shops.

Families are served by the Prairie View school district, with younger kids attending Parker Elementary right in town before moving on to the middle and high schools nearby. For recreation, residents enjoy the local city park and fishing lake, which offer an easy spot to spend an afternoon outdoors. The community also gathers each year for Parker Days, an annual festival that brings neighbors together to celebrate the town's history and small-town feel.
