Parmele, NC

Parmele is a small, quiet Martin County town set in the open farmland between Robersonville and Bethel. Back in the late 1800s, it was a busy railroad crossroads originally known as Junction. Thanks to thriving timber mills and several intersecting rail lines, the area grew quickly, with passenger and freight trains rolling through at all hours of the day.

A major fire and the end of the lumber boom eventually quieted the tracks, but the community held onto its tight-knit character. Landmarks like the historic Higgs Industrial School, founded in 1909, along with local churches and neighborhood gathering spots, kept families connected across generations. Today, Parmele offers a peaceful, unhurried lifestyle with plenty of open space, while still keeping you within an easy drive of larger hubs like Greenville and Williamston.
