About Patrick Springs
Patrick Springs is a Patrick County community whose name comes with a little mineral-resort history attached. The first post office opened in 1857 as Spabrook Station near the old Patrick Springs hotel, then took the Patrick Springs name in 1859. A later post office called Shuff carried the name of Methodist circuit rider Jacob Shough. Today the place is a rural crossroads in southwest Virginia, with that springs-and-post-office history giving it a stronger identity than its size might suggest.
