Paw Paw, IL

Paw Paw is a quiet village in southeastern Lee County, named after the native pawpaw groves early settlers found growing in the area. The community originally took root as a stagecoach stop along Chicago Road, an old route connecting Chicago to Galena. Over the years, the village grew around farming and the railroad, leaving behind classic Victorian homes and a peaceful, small-town atmosphere.

Life here revolves around a simple, close-knit routine centered along Chicago Road, where you will find the public library, local churches, and a handful of hometown businesses. Families have the benefit of elementary and junior high schools right in town, along with spacious yards and safe, walkable streets. The surrounding farmland gives the village plenty of breathing room, while nearby Interstate 39 provides a straightforward drive to larger hubs like Rochelle and DeKalb.
