Payette, ID

Payette is a city and the county seat of Payette County, Idaho, situated at the mouth of the Payette River along the Oregon border. Originally established in 1882 as a railroad construction camp named Boomerang, the settlement of approximately 8,500 grew into a timber center where logs were floated down the river to local sawmills to produce railroad ties. Public education is administered by the Payette Joint School District 371.
