Paynesville, MN

Paynesville sits on Lake Koronis and the North Fork of the Crow River in central Minnesota's Stearns County, within the St. Cloud metropolitan area. The city was platted in 1857 by Edwin Payne and had 2,388 residents in the 2020 census. Its map joins a lake-oriented recreation network to a small city center: Highway 23 carries regional traffic, while the lake and river shape the edges of local activity. Lake Koronis now organizes much of Paynesville's recurring community activity. Lake Koronis Regional Park has a campground, public beach, picnic shelters, trails, and an observation tower, and a paved walking and biking trail circles the lake.

The local calendar includes Lake Koronis Days, summer concerts, holiday events, farmers markets, and other seasonal gatherings. Paynesville also retains a historical museum, restaurants, shops, and marine and snowmobile services in town. The result is a city where water access, seasonal events, and ordinary retail and service routines meet within the same central Minnesota landscape.
