Peach Springs, AZ

Peach Springs is a Mohave County census-designated place on the Hualapai Reservation, with 1,098 residents in the 2020 census. It stretches along both sides of historic Arizona Route 66, about fifty miles northeast of Kingman. The desert settlement is the principal community and administrative center of the Hualapai people, with tribal offices, housing, schools, a small market, and travel services gathered along the highway. The route continues east toward Seligman and west toward Kingman, while Hualapai Hilltop lies far to the northeast as the trailhead for the descent to Supai.

Water gives Peach Springs its name and its older story. The springs served travelers on the Beale Wagon Road in the nineteenth century, then helped sustain traffic on the National Old Trails Road and Route 66. The Peach Springs Trading Post remains a listed historic place, now used for Hualapai tribal offices. The community’s daily life is grounded in tribal government, reservation services, desert travel, and the long road across the plateau.
