Pearson, GA

Pearson serves as the seat of Atkinson County in south-central Georgia, a small city whose map was drawn around a railroad stop. The Brunswick and Western Railroad reached the site in 1875, and the depot gave the emerging settlement a name and a reason to grow. Pearson became a town in 1890 and a city in 1916. County offices, the courthouse, and local services still give the place a role that reaches beyond its population, with residents from the surrounding rural area coming in for school, business, and county matters.

Education remains one of the city’s most visible civic threads.
