About Pecos

Pecos is a small mountain village about thirty minutes east of Santa Fe, home to roughly 1,400 residents. It sits in a scenic river valley where the Sangre de Cristo foothills meet the eastern plains, a location that made it a major crossroads centuries ago for Pueblo communities, Spanish settlers, and Santa Fe Trail traders. Today, that history is easy to explore right outside town at Pecos National Historical Park, which preserves ancient pueblo ruins, an 18th-century mission church, and the historic Forked Lightning Ranch.
