Peter, UT

Peter, also called Petersboro, is a Cache County census-designated place on the west-central edge of Utah’s Cache Valley and part of the Logan metropolitan area. Sylvanus Collett was among the area’s first settlers in 1867, and the place later took the Petersboro name for Peter Maughan, an early Mormon settler and church leader. In 1876 it became District Six of the Mendon LDS Ward; in 1887 it organized as its own ward. Cache County still treats Petersboro as an unincorporated community, with open-land and agricultural planning on the county agenda. Peter is a valley-edge place whose history is tied to Mendon, the waterways of Cache Valley, and the church settlement pattern of northern Utah.
