Piermont, NY

Set right on the west bank of the Hudson River in Rockland County, Piermont offers a peaceful, small-town atmosphere about 25 miles north of Manhattan. The village is best known for its historic pier, which stretches nearly a mile into the water and gives locals panoramic views across the river. It originally connected nineteenth-century trains with river traffic and served as a major troop departure point during World War II, but today it is where neighbors come to walk, jog, and fish.
