About Pine Forest

Pine Forest is a city in Orange County, Texas, north of Vidor in the Beaumont-Port Arthur region. Its setting belongs to the pine and timber country of Southeast Texas, where roads, drainage channels, and small settlements spread through the flat land between the Neches River and the county's larger communities. Pine Forest's local map is closely connected with Vidor, and Lakeview Cutoff is one of the roads used to identify the area. The city is also part of the Vidor Independent School District.

That school connection reaches back to the district's beginnings. In 1929, common school districts associated with Magnolia Grove, Doty, Terry, and Pine Forest consolidated to form the Vidor Rural School District; the district later became independent. Pine Forest Elementary keeps the name visible in the present school map. The City of Vidor's community history places Pine Forest north of Vidor within the same Orange County trade area, alongside Rose City and the Neches River corridor. Pine Forest is a small city, but its name, pine-country setting, school history, and connection to Vidor give it a recognizable place in the county.
