Pine Ridge CDP (Citrus County), FL

Pine Ridge is an unincorporated Citrus County community wrapped around the north and west sides of Beverly Hills, with most addresses using the Beverly Hills ZIP code. Pine Ridge Boulevard, Forest Ridge Boulevard, Mustang Boulevard, and County Road 491 carry the longest trips through an otherwise looping network of residential streets. The land rises and falls more than the flat-Florida stereotype suggests, and many homes sit on roomy wooded lots under live oaks and pines. County government provides public services, while the Pine Ridge Property Owners Association manages covenants and a large set of shared facilities across the platted subdivision.

The community was laid out in multiple units by the Deltona Corporation and later developers, creating thousands of lots with space for ordinary suburban homes as well as horse properties. Equestrian use is the detail that sets Pine Ridge apart locally. The association’s central complex covers about 94 acres and includes stables, pastures, riding arenas, and a 28-mile riding-and-walking trail system. The same grounds hold the community center, tennis and shuffleboard courts, a playground, gazebo, and other gathering areas. Horses are highly visible on some roads and trails. Many households simply value the roomy lots and low-density setting without keeping one.

Pine Ridge has no municipal downtown. Routine shopping, medical visits, and library trips pull residents toward Beverly Hills and the County Road 491 corridor, while Lecanto and Crystal River handle larger errands and jobs. The Central Ridge Library sits just beyond the CDP in Beverly Hills, close enough to function as a regular neighborhood institution. Driving remains the default, and current county plans treat 491 as both a growing regional corridor and an important hurricane-evacuation route; proposed widening includes a multi-use path and sidewalk. The former golf-course property inside the community has also made land-use change a sharp local concern after years of serving as open green space between homes. Pine Ridge still feels spacious and horse-country-influenced, but traffic, road projects, and pressure on large undeveloped tracts are steadily part of the conversation.
