Pinecrest offers a classic suburban layout with plenty of elbow room. They carved walking paths through natural tropical hammocks and built distinctive coral-rock features, letting exotic birds fly among the native trees. When the attraction moved closer to downtown Miami in the early 2000s, the village bought the historic site to keep it from being redeveloped. Now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the fourteen-acre property operates as Pinecrest Gardens, preserving the original paths and rock work for the community.

Today, Pinecrest Gardens functions as the town's favorite outdoor hub. The grounds feature more than a thousand varieties of rare palms and tropical plants, along with the Banyan Bowl, a covered outdoor amphitheater that hosts jazz concerts, theater productions, and seasonal performances. Families love the shaded playground and splash area, while weekends revolve around the popular Sunday Farmers Market. It is an easy place to pick up fresh produce, local honey, and coffee in the morning, or come back later for an evening concert under the banyan trees.
