Plain Dealing, LA

Plain Dealing got its start in the mid-1800s, growing out of northern Louisiana's farming country before taking shape as a railroad stop in the late 1880s. Built along the tracks connecting Shreveport to Arkansas, it quickly became a convenient trade hub for local growers and timber crews. More than a century later, that historic street grid still gives the town its classic small-town layout.

Located in Bossier Parish just eight miles south of the Arkansas line, Plain Dealing offers a quiet rural lifestyle with easy access to regional hubs. Daily life revolves around local schools, neighborhood churches, and familiar hometown shops, while nearby pine woods and waterways provide plenty of space to enjoy the outdoors. When residents need major retail, specialized healthcare, or broader career opportunities, Shreveport and Bossier City are an easy drive south. It remains a peaceful, close-knit community where neighbors still know one another by name.
