Plainedge, NY

Plainedge is a Nassau County hamlet about 30 miles east of Midtown Manhattan and 13 miles east of Queens. The area was originally acquired from Marsapeque leaders, and later became known for poultry farms before suburban Long Island filled in around it. Today Plainedge is primarily served by the Plainedge Union Free School District, which gives the hamlet much of its local identity. It feels like a mature middle-ring Long Island community built around schools, houses, and commuter access.
