About Plattekill
Plattekill is an Ulster County hamlet and CDP of 1,296 residents in the 2020 census, set in the southern part of the much larger Town of Plattekill. Routes 32 and 13 meet near the hamlet, with the New York State Thruway close by and Orange County just to the south. The town's five hamlets—Ardonia, Clintondale, Modena, New Hurley, and Plattekill—make the wider local map more useful than treating the name as one built-up center. The hamlet's civic address book reaches into nearby Modena, where the library and Town Hall serve the broader town.
The everyday community institutions sit in that town-wide network. Plattekill Public Library is on Route 32 in Modena, with programs, digital collections, newspapers, genealogy, and local-history material; Town Hall and board meetings are also in Modena. The Plattekill Historical Society preserves records and artifacts through the Plattekill Grange. The result is a small Hudson Valley CDP with a rural road setting and a civic life spread among several hamlets.
