Pleasant View, IN

Pleasant View is a Shelby County census-designated place in Moral Township with a name that sounds newer than its story. Alexander Means laid it out in 1836 on the Michigan Road, and the hamlet became a stagecoach stop where travelers changed horses, bought supplies, and found a hotel for the night. The railroad later pulled traffic away, leaving the old road as the main clue to what the place once was. Pleasant View is rural Indiana in a crossroads-after-the-crossroads kind of way.
