Plover, IA

Located in northwest Iowa's Pocahontas County, Plover is a tiny, quiet farming community of about 50 people. The town was founded in the 1880s as a railroad stop and named after the shorebirds spotted along the tracks, quickly growing to support local farmers with grain elevators, a creamery, and a general store. Today, life in Plover moves at a peaceful, unhurried pace among wide-open fields, anchored by community staples like an 1888 church that later became the town hall and library.
