Plumerville, AR

Plumerville is a Conway County city along U.S. 64, with Interstate 40 skirting its northern edge. Morrilton, the county seat, lies west, while Menifee is east; Little Rock and Fort Smith are reached along the interstate. The city began as Plummer’s Station, a stage stop on the Fort Smith-to-Memphis branch of the Butterfield Overland Mail. That transportation history still fits the map: Plumerville grew around routes, services, and the farm country of the Arkansas River Valley.

Fire reshaped downtown in 1987, but the town kept its civic footing. South Conway County School District now serves the area, and the former Plumerville High School building houses the Arch Ford Education Service Cooperative, which supports districts across several counties. Volunteer fire and emergency services, city offices, streets, and Conway County water connections provide the practical framework. Around town, row-crop fields spread into the bottomlands, while the I-40 corridor carries work, shopping, and longer trips. Plumerville has a short-town-center feel with a long transportation memory.
