Point Blank, TX

Point Blank is a quiet lakeside town of around 600 people in San Jacinto County, tucked along the northwest shore of Lake Livingston about 85 miles north of Houston. Daily life revolves around the water, with easy access to boat ramps, fishing, and relaxed country living. Local students attend schools in the Coldspring-Oakhurst school district, and while a few small businesses line Highway 190, bigger grocery trips and medical care typically take residents to nearby towns like Livingston or Huntsville.

The memorable name dates back to the 1850s, when a French settler named Florence Dissiway called the area Blanc Point, which locals eventually flipped to Point Blank. Once a sleepy patch of East Texas timber and farmland, the area grew into a popular retreat after the reservoir was built around 1970. Today, it is a spread-out, easygoing community popular with retirees, weekend boaters, and anyone looking for peaceful waterfront living away from big-city traffic.
