About Pollock

Pollock is a Sullivan County village on Missouri Route M, about a mile east of Route 5 and two miles south of the Sullivan-Putnam line. The 2020 Census counted 46 residents and 28 housing units. H. F. Warner and William Lane surveyed the original thirty-two-block town in July 1873, then added fourteen blocks in 1876 as the Chicago, Burlington and Kansas City Railway reached the village. By the 1880s Pollock had a telegraph, hotel, general stores, blacksmiths, a physician, and stock shipping. The village incorporated in 1901, and local volunteers later raised funds for Pollock City Park, built around 1990. Today, the railroad corridor and the small park sit alongside a town whose historic form still shows how northern Missouri villages grew around farm shipping.
