About Polo

Polo is an Ogle County city in northwest Illinois, about five miles west of White Pines State Park. It took its name from Marco Polo and incorporated in 1857. The city sits in Polo School District 222, with Polo Community High School, Aplington Middle School, and Centennial Elementary forming its local school set. White Pines State Park supplies the clearest nearby landmark, while the school campus and civic center keep Polo oriented as a small rural city. Its name is international; its setting is very much Ogle County farm country.
