Pontiac, MI

Pontiac is the county seat of Oakland County and a Detroit-area city with a deep automotive history. In the 20th century it was known for multiple General Motors manufacturing facilities, and the Pontiac name itself became one of GM's most recognizable brands. The city's location northwest of Detroit made it both a satellite city and an industrial center in its own right. Pontiac has faced the hard changes common to older auto cities, but its courthouse role, downtown, and manufacturing legacy still define its local identity.
