Port Royal, SC

Port Royal is a Beaufort County town at the end of the Beaufort River, part of the Hilton Head Island and Lowcountry region. It has deep military and maritime history, including the Civil War's Naval Battle of Port Royal, and nearby Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island is one of its defining neighbors. The town grew around an isolated port site, and that waterfront setting still matters. Port Royal feels quieter and more local than Beaufort, but just as tied to tidewater history.
