Powderly, KY

Tucked right between Central City and Greenville in western Kentucky, Powderly is a quiet community with deep roots in the region's coal mining heritage. Founded in the late 1880s and named after labor leader Terence Powderly, the town offers a relaxed, friendly pace where neighbors know one another. Its central spot makes it easy to enjoy a peaceful rural setting while staying just minutes from the everyday conveniences, schools, and dining in neighboring towns.

Much of the local activity centers around Paradise Park and the Muhlenberg County Agriculture and Convention Center. Throughout the summer, residents come together for weekly Pickin' in the Park jam sessions, celebrating the area's thumbpicking guitar traditions right next to the preserved childhood home of country music legend Merle Travis. The park also features a replica mining camp and a historic 1930s schoolhouse, while the arena hosts regular rodeos, horse shows, and tractor pulls that draw crowds from all across the county.
