Powell, TN

Powell is an unincorporated community north of Knoxville that still carries more of an independent small-town feel than a typical suburb. It has had a mix of local institutions and employers, including Crown College, a former Levi's jeans manufacturing plant that closed in 2002, and even a STOLport aviation facility. Powell is tied closely to Knox County and the Knoxville metro, but its older commercial strips, schools, churches, and local name recognition make it feel like its own place on the north side of town.
