About Prattville
Prattville is the Autauga County seat and a Montgomery-area city that also extends into Elmore County. Founded in 1839 by industrialist Daniel Pratt, it has more industrial-era texture than many Alabama suburbs, especially around the Daniel Pratt Historic District. Prattville is nicknamed the Fountain City because of its artesian wells, and its downtown still carries some of that older mill-town identity. Modern Prattville is also a commuter and family city, with Autauga County schools and the Capitol Hill golf courses adding to its local profile.
