Prinsburg, MN

Prinsburg was planned in 1886 after Dutch land partners Martin Prins and Theodore Koch began selling acreage in the area. The town grew in Holland Township as families took up farmsteads, organized churches, and built a community around shared Dutch Reformed traditions. Central Minnesota Christian School began with a Christian school society in 1910, and the town became a village in 1952. Highway 7 and County Road 1 now carry the traffic through this prairie settlement.

Central Minnesota Christian School remains the city’s main school, serving students from Prinsburg and surrounding communities, while the local public district exists without operating a public school of its own. City Hall, churches, local businesses, and farm roads give the place its daily structure. Willmar and other Kandiyohi County communities provide larger shopping, health care, and employment, but Prinsburg’s calendar still turns around school, worship, agriculture, and city events. It is a small prairie city with a long institutional history, where land, faith, and education have stayed close together for generations.
