Putney, GA

Putney is a Dougherty County census-designated place of 2,869 residents in the 2020 census, just south of Albany along U.S. 19. The highway runs north into Albany and south toward Thomasville, while the Flint River marks part of Putney's western edge and the Mitchell County line marks its southern edge. A post office was established here in 1897, and the community remains tied to the Albany metro without being part of the city itself. Its geography is easy to read: a river on one side, farm country around it, and a north-south road that does most of the connecting.
