Quitman is an incorporated city and the county seat of Wood County, Texas, situated in the piney woods of East Texas eighty miles east of Dallas. Named for Mexican-American War veteran John A. Quitman and near Lake Fork Reservoir, the regional trade hub of approximately 2,420 is served by the Quitman Independent School District locally.
