Rainbow Springs, FL

Located just north of Dunnellon in Marion County, Rainbow Springs is a quiet, scenic community about twenty miles southwest of Ocala. With around 5,000 residents, the area appeals to anyone looking for a relaxed pace of life surrounded by nature. The community sits right along the famous Rainbow River, where cool, crystal-clear water stays 72 degrees year-round and offers endless opportunities for kayaking, paddleboarding, and swimming. Most neighborhoods feature paved, winding roads and wooded lots, giving the entire area a calm, residential feel while keeping local grocery stores and restaurants only a short drive away.

Long before it became a popular spot to settle down, the spring operated as a vintage roadside attraction with landscaped gardens and man-made waterfalls. When the state took over the property in 1990 to create Rainbow Springs State Park, it preserved the spring basin and set the stage for the residential community that grew around it. Today, locals enjoy easy access to the park’s walking trails and picnic areas, while several neighborhoods have their own private river parks, golf facilities, and community centers.
