About Ramsey
Two NJ Transit stations create distinct commuter settings within Ramsey's 5.5 square miles. Ramsey Main Street station sits beside Erie Plaza, where a year-round Sunday farmers market runs outdoors from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. from May through November and on shorter winter hours. Its 2026 roster brought more than 55 farmers and food producers, along with children's activities, demonstrations, and regular food collection for nearby hunger-relief organizations. Ramsey Route 17 station provides the borough's larger park-and-ride option. Current Main-Bergen County Line schedules serve both stations with trains toward Hoboken and connections at Secaucus for New York Penn Station. The borough had 14,798 residents in 2020; for the 2020–2024 period, 79.2 percent of occupied homes were owner-occupied and workers' mean travel time was 31.8 minutes. Recreation is spread across substantial municipal grounds rather than confined to a single complex. Finch Park has eight baseball or softball fields, basketball and pickleball courts, a playground, pavilion, and restrooms; it hosted the borough's five-week day camp in 2026.
Conklin Park includes the municipal pool, tennis and bocce courts, and the community and senior center, while the pool's 2026 season ran from late May through Labor Day. Ramsey's adopted facilities plan also inventories the 17.8-acre Suraci's Pond, 6.7-acre Van Gelder's Pond, and 214.7 acres of Green Acres conservation land. Ramsey Free Public Library is open seven days a week and participates in the Bergen County cooperative system. In addition to books and digital media, it provides museum passes, technology help, notary service, meeting rooms, a Library of Things, homebound delivery, and language-learning resources covering more than 75 languages. The market turns one station area into a weekly gathering place; parks, ponds, the pool, and the library distribute local routines across the rest of the borough.
