About Randolph

Randolph is a small Kennebec County town and census-designated place on the east bank of the Kennebec River, across from Gardiner and south of Augusta. Incorporated in 1887, it grew as a river community handling boats, ice, and lumber, and as the terminus of a narrow-gauge railroad to the Togus Veterans Home. Cobbesseecontee Stream meets the Kennebec here, giving Randolph a water-and-crossing geography. It is also Maine’s smallest municipality by area that is not an island, a distinction that fits its compact riverfront map.
