Red Wing, MN

Red Wing is a Mississippi River city in Goodhue County, southeast of the Twin Cities. The area was connected to a Mdewakanton Dakota reservation along the river before Euro-American settlers arrived by steamboat in the early 1850s to farm the surrounding land. Red Wing is known for its river bluffs, historic downtown, pottery, and the Red Wing Shoes brand. The public library and older civic institutions add to its established feel. It is one of Minnesota's more scenic and historically layered river towns.
