About Reece City
Reece City is an Etowah County town in the Little Wills Valley, with Big Ridge to the west and Lookout Mountain rising to the east. U.S. 11 runs through the valley, while Interstate 59 parallels it and connects the town toward Gadsden, Fort Payne, and Birmingham. The settlement began as Hill, changed to Reeceville in 1903, and became Reece City when voters approved incorporation in May 1956. That sequence gives the town a clear shift from crossroads community to municipality.
Reece City still works as a small valley town whose everyday connections extend beyond its borders. Etowah County schools serve local children, there is no public school inside the town, and the county seat supplies larger services. Within town, a city park with a walking trail, a volunteer fire department, water service, and city hall keep the municipal layer visible. Reece City's character comes from its geography: a narrow Alabama corridor where a creek, two highways, mountain edges, and Gadsden's orbit all meet.
