Reed, AR

Reed is a small rural community in Desha County, Arkansas, located about six miles north of McGehee along U.S. Highway 65. With a population of around 130, it is a quiet Delta town spanning just a fraction of a square mile. Founded in the mid-20th century and named after local store owner Roosevelt Reed, the town incorporated in 1961 as a close-knit, historically African American community. Farmland surrounds the area, and while students attend schools in McGehee and many residents commute to nearby towns for work, Reed offers a peaceful, slow-paced setting.
