Reeseville, WI

Reeseville began with the Reese family and grew when the railroad crossed the marshy Mud Lake route to Portage and St. Paul. Adam Reese took charge of the station, and the depot first called Lowell Station was renamed Reeseville in 1865. The rail line brought a general store, lumber yard, grain elevator, blacksmith shops, a canning operation, and other businesses; the village incorporated in 1889. That sequence gives Reeseville a practical origin: a farm settlement became a service and shipping point because the train stopped there.

The village still carries those layers through its community center, library, fire department, parks, and Main Street. The Reeseville Community Events Group re-established the Corn Roast in 2024, and the village calendar continues to run through board, infrastructure, and fire-department meetings. Reeseville is in Dodge County about 15 miles from Watertown, Columbus, Beaver Dam, and Juneau, with Madison roughly 30 miles away. Its local clue is the old rail logic: a name that began at a depot now belongs to a village with civic facilities and a regular community calendar.
