About Rensselaer

Rensselaer is a city and the county seat of Jasper County, Indiana, situated along the rapids of the Iroquois River. Platted in 1839 as Newton and renamed in 1844 for merchant James Van Rensselaer, the community of approximately 5,573 is located near Saint Joseph's College and is served by the Rensselaer Central School Corporation locally.
