Republic, MO

Republic is a growing city southwest of Springfield in Missouri's Ozarks region. Early settlement in this part of Greene County centered on Little York, but Republic is now tied to Springfield's expanding suburban edge. Its strongest historic association is nearby Wilson's Creek National Battlefield, where one of the first major Civil War battles west of the Mississippi River was fought.
