Reynoldsville, PA

Reynoldsville is a Jefferson County borough in the Sandy Lick Creek valley, where U.S. 322 heads toward Brookville and Luthersburg. The place started as Winslow Township and took its current name from local postmaster Thomas Reynolds in 1850. By 1846, Sandy Lick Creek had been cleared enough to float logs toward Pittsburgh, and after the Civil War the area's soft-coal deposits drove another round of growth. Reynoldsville is western Pennsylvania with creek-bottom routes, timber, coal, and a name that changed as the town took shape.
