About Richmond

Richmond is a historic city and the county seat of Fort Bend County, Texas, situated along the Brazos River within the Houston metropolitan area. First settled in 1822 by Stephen F. Austin's colonists who constructed Fort Bend, the community of approximately 12,600 was among the first towns incorporated by the Republic of Texas in 1837. Today, the city hosts the George Memorial Library and is served by the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District.
