Ridgewood, IL

Ridgewood is an unincorporated census-designated place in Will County, bordered by Joliet and connected to the surrounding area by U.S. Route 30. That geography shapes the community: Ridgewood is not organized around an incorporated municipal government, and its schools are assigned to Joliet Public School District 86 and Joliet Township High School District 204. The community’s 2020 Census listing as a CDP reflects a neighborhood-scale place embedded in a much larger urban county. Will County’s consolidated plan identifies Ridgewood among the county’s newer unincorporated CDPs and says such neighborhoods receive municipal services through a mix of county, township, water, and sanitary districts.
