Rifle, CO

Rifle is a small Western Slope city in Garfield County, set along the Colorado River between Glenwood Springs and Grand Junction. The area has deep Ute history, and the late-1800s White River Ute Agency story is part of the broader regional past. Modern Rifle is practical and outdoors-oriented at the same time: energy development, ranching, and service work are part of the economy, while Rifle Gap, Rifle Falls, and the surrounding mesas give residents quick access to fishing, hiking, and high-desert scenery.
