Rio Bravo, TX

Rio Bravo is a Webb County city on the left bank of the Rio Grande, about 16 miles south of Laredo along U.S. 83. Developer Cecil McDonald founded the community in 1982, and it incorporated as a city in 1989. The 2020 Census counted 4,450 residents. The river and highway give it a clear border-and-corridor setting: Laredo supplies the nearest large urban center, while the Rio Grande marks the southern edge of the city's geography.

Schools and county-supported community facilities carry much of the local civic routine. United Independent School District serves Rio Bravo through campuses including Hachar Elementary and Salvador Garcia Middle School, whose address on Pena Drive places a middle-school campus inside the city. Webb County's community-partnership network includes the Rio Bravo Community Center, tying the city to a broader effort that also serves nearby colonias. Highway 83 remains the main north-south route. Rio Bravo is organized around border geography, school campuses, and the highway north toward Laredo.
