Rising Sun is a town in Cecil County, Maryland, situated in the northeastern corner of the state. Originally settled in 1702 by Quakers within the disputed Nottingham Lots tract claimed by William Penn, the historic community of approximately 2,764 is served by the Cecil County Public Schools district for local public education locally.
