Riverdale Park, CA

Riverdale Park is a compact Stanislaus County census-designated place on the Tuolumne River, southwest of Modesto in the Modesto metro area. The 2020 census counted 1,053 residents. The community occupies about 1.5 square miles, with the river forming its northern edge and local roads filling out the rest of the map. The county's Riverdale Park and Fishing Access has a small play area, picnic shelter, walking trail, and carry-in boat path. The park is a small but useful river access point. Water service is the practical issue shaping the community's current chapter.

In May 2026, construction began to connect the Riverdale water system to Modesto's, a project intended to serve more than 600 residents after uranium contamination affected the community's only supply well. The result is a place that sits close to a larger city yet still has a small-community service footprint. Riverdale Park's everyday map is a river edge, a neighborhood park, and a water system being folded into Modesto's larger network.
